About
We Are One Heart
We Are One Heart (WA1H) is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a very big mission. We provide housing, assistance, resources, and referrals to low-income seniors and veterans. At the foundation of everything WA1H does, the primary goal is to spread love—realizing that every situation and individual we encounter shares a heart of our own.
WA1H relies heavily on volunteers and as a result, we work diligently with individuals of all ages, teaching and equipping them with various tools and skills to develop their compassion and patience for seniors. We believe that as we shape a future that embraces those who have helped shaped the past, it will bring us a little closer to a caring society.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between the needs and resources of the elderly by offering:
-
In-home safety assessments
-
Medication management and planners
-
Group social activities and caregiver support
-
Referrals for placement, physicians, equipment, and more
-
Resources to families regardless of financial ability

About
WA1H was founded in November 2016, by Pat T. Nixon, RN-BSN, CALM-CDP.
As a Registered Nurse, she holds a clinical background in the management of geriatric patients in acute care, home health, and hospice settings. After a successful medical spa sales and marketing career, Pat found her passion at the bedside through therapeutic touch and intentional presence. She successfully owned and operated Beauty Trend Mobile Spa offering spa services in the home setting for seniors who were unable to visit a brick-and-mortar location.
Pat believes in education and mastery and defines her presence in the senior community as a privilege from Christ. Throughout her career, she has achieved various certifications and awards, adding value to her dedication to the senior community. She holds designation as a Residential Assisted Living Specialist with Memory Care certification, she’s a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Certified Assisted Living Manager. She is a proud member of the Texas Nurses Association (TNA), Texas Organization of Residential Care Homes (TORCH), and a mentee of the Small Business Association’s SCORE program.
Pat’s passion lies in her nurture which led to the startup of iNurse Delegate, which provides clinical consulting, caregiver training, and nurse delegation for small assisted living communities and residential care homes. Pat aspires to be a catalyst for community support for the elderly, especially veterans and those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Pat is also a proud mother of two amazing children who exemplify a heart for seniors through their volunteerism and acts of kindness in the community.
“Far too often, as a nurse, I am faced with the awful reality of the socioeconomic gap among seniors. Either our elders have done well in planning for the days of decline, we (the children or grandchildren) have done exceptionally well and can financially provide for them, or they are left in a gap inclusive of poor care, isolation, depression, and unacceptable conditions for someone who has spent their life loving others. It’s time to change the way we approach care for the elderly and disabled.”
